Hut Jam Recap
via. nathanjohnstone.com
Last weekend my Nitro team mate Jarryd Williams and I headed down to Mt Buller for the 2011 Mountain Dew “DEW HUT” competition. Here a couple photo’s I pulled of the net from the dew hut that was held over the weekend.
It turned out to be a unreal event the weather held off so we scored some sunny shredding, which doesn’t happen alot in Mt Buller so everyone was pumped. Congrats to Jye and Chris DeCampo for taking it out, also Nick Woods and Andy Lloyd for best trick, those back rodeo’s were insane… Well deserved!!

Mountain Dew Hut Jam
Whats up friends!? Winter is back, and so are we...
A few of the boys are competing on the weekend of July 30 in the Annual Mountain Dew Hut Jam staged at Mount Buller. It is a ridiculously fun, unique event where companies put forward teams of two to represnt them. So if your at Buller that weekend make sure you don't miss it.
If you can't come, you can still help us out a bunch! Gatorade, for the second year now, is putting up 4k for the Rookie Award at the Dew Hut Jam. A percentage of this is decided by online voting so if you could take a minute to click here and head to the Dew Facebook page where you select your top three riders. Comrades that are eligible include - Nate, Jarryd, Jase and Tys! So make sure you put them in your top three!
Thanks peeps!

You can also 'like' isft. on good old trusty Facebook which will be updated frequently with all the good stuff re: isft. and its ambassadors.

OMG!
Excuse the 'typed by a 16 year old girl' title but this is ridiculous!
Nate may not have done as well as hoped [Placing 10th - still a rad effort] in the Euro X-Games this week, however he has been enjoying the pipe in Tignes which he says is up there with the best he's ever ridden.
This is a massive front 5 he was doing on his first hit in the comp. It has to be pushing 20 foot... super steezy too. {Video will be posted soon}
If your curious Louie Vito took out the gold followed by IPod and Christian Haller.

Bardonecchia
Nate just destroyed the Bardonnechia World Cup in Italy which slipped him into first position of the World Cup rankings. Jarryd came 13th in what ws his first World Cup start, missing out on finals by .2 of a point. And the gold medal in the ladies event was snapped up by friend of Comrades and all round champion Holly Crawford.
Being that Jarryd didn't make the finals he took some happy snaps yesterday... check 'em out.
Comrades Represent [This one is actually taken by Nate]
The pipe cut with a 22ft Global Cutter... Looking primo!
Nate boosting an Indy Nose Bone on his last hit.
Holly laying back a nice slash during training.
Holls on the podium...
... and Nate.
[Left to Right] Jarryd, Kerry (The team physio / runAbout), Holly, Benny A (Coach / Wax Tech) and Nate.
More so than the prize money and trophies this is by far the best part about winning yesterday. Nate and Holly each took home one of these boxes of meat.

Turning Japanese Vol. 1
A few weeks ago Comrades Jason and Charlie were invited on a photo trip to Japan for Australian New Zealand Snowboarding Magazine. Accompanying them on the trip was good friend of Comrades Chris Decampo and Photographer Richard Hegarty.
The trip kicked off in Nozawa Onsen where the boys spent the first 5 nights. Straight off the bat they were blessed with great snow making it super easy to find features to shoot. The great snow and amazing terrain in Nozawa made it easy for the boys to get work done shooting a variety of different features. Along with all the shredding extra curricular activities included beer drinking from vending machines; eating great food and of course karaoke.
From Nozawa they continued to Myoko, a resort nearby to keep everything fresh. Upon arrival there was more fresh snow which made for some sick turns and some decent cliff lines.
They had incredible luck with the weather for the rest of the stay in Myoko with nothing but bluebird days, making for perfect conditions for jump building and shooting some different Japan features. The night life in Myoko was none existent which was a bit of a shame for the boys but they did get to visit a monkey park and hang out with some rather angry little monkeys.
From all reports the trip was very productive all the guys got sweet shots which should make for some good reading when this years magazines come out.
This is what the boys had to say:
Jason Maxfield
”Japan was an amazing experience both for the riding and crazy different culture. I recommend a Japan trip to everyone. It was a great way to break up the season from all the park riding in Breckenridge. And I was super stoked on the group of guys selected for the trip there was nothing better then going on one of your first mag trips with such good riders. It was a super fun trip which will show in the photos.”
Charlie Steinbacher
“Japan was awesome, it was a perfect way to start off my season, it was my first time there so I was blown away by the amount of snow they had... and being there with Jason and Decampo made it so much fun, we are all the same age and we all ride together during the Aus season so I couldn’t have asked for a better group of guys to ride pow and shoot photos with.”
Charlie also took part in another photo trip in Japan just before this one, so he will be hooking us up with some intel regarding that shortly. So keep posted.

Samboss Hurts Ankle
via. http://samuelmurphy.com/
"So today I kinda took a pretty gnarly spill. I’m not too sure how it happened but I landed all the way in the bottom of the pipe and landed a bit awkward and tweaked my ankle a little… well it was alot.
Enough to put me in enough pain to go to the medical centre and get an X-ray. Good news was that it wasn’t broken but I couldn’t put any weight on it and it’s even uncomfortable to move around on my crouches at the moment. "
The call from the Doc is two weeks, so it's not too bad but stil a massive downer.
Heal up quick Mate!

Powder Day in Breck
via jarrydwilliams.blogspot.com
This Morning Jack, Triggs and I had plans to go to A-Basin, which is usually pretty amazing [or so I've heard] on a powder day. However the early morning snow report check showed that Breck recieved twice as much snow as A-Basin - a ridiculous 26 inches [Thats 66 centre metres!!!]. So needless to say we hit up Breck.
